Hello, I am John lenz an electrical engineer who has been in the Utility Industry for over 45 years. I am a registered professional engineer. I first started my career working for an electrical power utility, Columbus & Southern Ohio Electric Company which is now AEP Ohio. It merged with AEP in 1979. Over my 24 years as an engineer at the utility, I worked in the Distribution Department, System Engineering with relaying, Substation Department, Metering Department and in the Energy Management which is the Commercial/Industrial Marketing Department.

After experience with the above engineering Departments, I left and started my own consulting company Lenz Engineering. Over the past 20 plus years I used my engineering experience with electrical Cooperative companies in Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania. This work included power line design and upgrades, relay and protection studies and setting recommendation, Engineering Planning studies to provide funding for Capital Improvement projects.

Along the engineering journey, I have been asked about whether customers should switch power supply providers. This was something new to me since I was seeing utilities changing their coal power generating plants to either a natural gas operation or taking them offline and shutting down. This started the advent for wind power generation and solar power generation. There is a lot more to follow so stay tune and I will show you makes up your energy bills.
